Elise Marie Martin (b.1990, Metro Detroit) is a visual artist and educator with a BFA from the College for Creative Studies (2012) and an MFA in fibers from Wayne State University (2021). Her work explores empathy, comfort, and care through fiber arts, sculpture, and installation. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including residencies such as Atelier Frankfurt and WOMXN HOUSE DETROIT. She is the recipient of a 2025 Kresge Artist Fellowship.
Her studio practice is complemented by her work in art education and art-based community programs. She currently teaches undergraduate courses at Wayne State University and the College for Creative Studies, and she works alongside several non-profit organizations, to provide art programing in public schools, neighborhood libraries, hospitals and parks.
